Proximity Learning Launches Customized Special Education Case Management Services
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Proximity Learning Inc., the pioneering provider of synchronous virtual instruction for K-12 education, announced today the launch of its customizable special education case management services.
Earlier this year, 39 out of 50 U.S. states reported facing a shortage of special education teachers for the 2024-2025 school year. When school districts are unable to find certified special education instructors to fill their openings, students with additional needs are unable to learn effectively—and if the items laid out in a student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) aren’t met, school districts can be exposed to legal action.
“Special education services are designed to provide all students with access to the highest possible standard of education,” said Dr. Evette Riley-Allison, manager of special services at Proximity Learning. “We’re proud to provide special education services—and especially case managers—to connect schools with the resources they need to address the shortage of special education staff and ensure no student is overlooked.”
Case managers are a critical component of the special education infrastructure. For the more than 7 million students nationwide who receive an IEP, case managers ensure they receive exactly the services to which they’re entitled. Proximity Learning’s certified special education case managers build custom IEPs, monitor student progress, create academic and transition goals, provide accommodation and modification recommendations, and administer and compile assessment data for parents, teachers and administrators.
“Schools are continuing to embrace technology to supplement instruction and provide students with alternative ways to learn. Over the last 15 years, Proximity Learning has built itself into a true partner for superintendents, principals and school districts,” said Evan Erdberg, president and founder of Proximity Learning. “Our ability to connect these schools with certified teachers in their area of need ensures that millions of students nationwide receive access to the highest-quality teachers and a holistic education.”
Case management services are an extension of Proximity Learning’s longstanding commitment to helping schools address the nationwide shortage of special education teachers. School districts like Mississippi’s Leake County School District rely on certified virtual teachers through Proximity Learning to close the special education teacher shortage gap, customize content to align with state standards and ensure all students receive a robust education.
“We cannot have a successful school without taking care of all of our kids,” said Dr. Joe Nelson, superintendent at Leake County School District. “Without Proximity, our students would not have received the tier-one instruction they needed to grow.”
